about Aga khan development network

Founded and guided by His Highness the Aga Khan, the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) includes a constellation of institutions working in health, education, culture and rural and economic development, primarily within vulnerable communities in Asia and Africa.

The Network’s development agencies have mandates ranging from health and education to architecture, culture, microfinance, rural development, disaster reduction, the promotion of private-sector enterprise and the revitalization of historic cities. All of the Network’s institutions are dedicated to improving living conditions and opportunities for the poor, without regard to their faith, origin or gender.
