Toxic Atmosphere Poses Serious Health Risks
Experts at a seminar at Aga Khan University have said that heavy metals in the atmosphere like lead or arsenic and the improper disposal of hospital waste is leading to growing number of health-related complications in Pakistan. Policy-makers and environmental health experts called for greater awareness, new legislation as well as stricter implementation of policies and standards to improve the situation. They were speaking at a seminar called “Environmental Degradation and Health Impacts - Research and Policy”, organised by the Department of Community Health Sciences’ Division of Environmental Health Sciences at AKU in collaboration with the Environmental Protection Agency, Sindh here on Tuesday.
