On the Move: Partnership Walk Expands to Three New Cities
Aga Khan Foundation U.S.A. (AKF USA) is at the forefront of serving underprivileged communities in Asia and Africa, and during these economically challenging times, AKF USA is going into overdrive. To meet the increasing needs of the men, women and children in areas where we serve, PartnershipsInAction is expanding, spreading awareness in new demographics and increasing our fundraising efforts.
Since the first Partnership Walk held in Los Angeles in 1995, PartnershipsInAction has taken immense strides, reaching across the U.S. with events in Atlanta, Birmingham, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Las Vegas, Minneapolis, New York, Orlando, San Antonio and Seattle and raising $32 million. This year, Partnership Walk is being launched in three new cities: Birmingham, Memphis and San Francisco, and with your ongoing support, we will continue to grow and enrich more lives with knowledge and hope. Check the website periodically for updates or to register for one of the nine Partnership Walk events being held throughout the U.S. this year.

Building Tourism in Afghanistan
Home to Afghanistan’s only national park and the site of the infamous destruction of the ancient Buddha statues by the Taliban, Bamiyan is evolving into a peaceful area filled with picturesque scenery and vibrant culture. Here, AKF is on the front lines of development, strengthening the tourism industry to create opportunities for jobs and increased revenue. Though hindered by Afghanistan’s war-torn reputation, ecotourism is the most promising solution to Bamiyan’s economic woes, and AKF is partnering with the government of New Zealand to make self-sustaining investments in a more prosperous future for the region’s people.
