Steps to Seek Sponsorship
- Determine your audience
- Make them aware of the various sponsorship levels
- Always provide alternate ways to donate: cash, check, Paypal, etc
- Make phone calls and send email requests
- Send fundraising letters
- Cultivate your relationships with sponsors so that they are readily available to give next year
- Cultivate your relationships with non-sponsors. They might be interested in attending the event, if not giving
- Make sure that your sponsors get recognition and follow up with your local representative if they are missed for some reason
- Always, always thank your sponsors and non-sponsors
Save Receipts
Be sure to collect the name and information of all donors and sponsor. Even if they decline to be acknowledged, make them aware of the cause and the importance of saving the tax receipt for tax purposes.
How Do I Ask Someone to Donate?
When asking friends, family and colleagues to support you in Partnership Walk, you may want to include the following:
- I am an Ambassador for Partnership Walk, an annual event that takes place in 5 major U.S. cities nationwide and raises funds and awareness to fight global poverty.
- 100% of the funds raised go directly to support programs that help people become self-reliant, and provide a spark of hope and opportunity in the developing world.
- The Walk is an initiative of Aga Khan Foundation U.S.A., an international,non-profit development agency that is committed to implementing community-led, cost-effective programs to improve livelihoods of communities in the developing world.
- I am raising money for the Walk because I believe that each one of us has the power to make a difference in our world, and because I believe that you, like me, believe that providing opportunity to those less fortunate then us can create a more peaceful, secure and prosperous world for all of us.
- Today, you can make an incredible difference in the life of your global neighbor by contributing $25, $50, $100 or more.
Understand the cause better
Remember to invite each individual to Walk Day in their city to show their support towards ending global poverty.
