    Mishal Karedia of Austin slept little before rising at 5 a.m. Saturday to attend the San Antonio Partnership Walk, which raised more than $300,000 to fight poverty, hunger, illiteracy and poor health in Africa and Asia. A spirit of togetherness marked the event organized by the Aga Khan Foundation USA, a nonprofit, nondenominational organization named for the spiritual leader of Ismaili Muslims.

  • Close to 2,000 Birmingham-area residents participated in the Birmingham Partnership Walk at Railroad Park on Sunday, Sept.30 in support of a campaign to end global poverty. This year, participants raised over $300,000, all geared toward worldwide programs supported by the Aga Khan Foundation U.S.A. Birmingham Mayor William Bell delivered the keynote address. The event also featured several activities aimed at sharing the various cultures where AKF USA works.

    Local volunteers for a national foundation are organizing a walk on Saturday, Oct. 6 at HemisFair Park to raise awareness about poverty in Asia and Africa. The Partnership Walk is an effort of the Washington, D.C.-based Aga Khan Foundation [U.S.A], which has planned 10 walks nationwide this year. This will be the foundation's first walk in San Antonio.

While the AKTC receives most of its funding from the Aga Khan Foundation, the trust also accepts individual donations and has started seeking support for projects through impact investing.


  • French Regional Health Workshop Concludes

    Funded by the French Foreign Affairs Ministry and organised by the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) for the crossborder regions of Afghanistan (Badakhstan), Pakistan (Chitral) and Tajikistan (Gorno-Badakhshan). The financial commitment for this project was at least 2 million euros for a duration of four years (2012-2016). Health is one of France’s five priority sectors for development aid, commitment of the G8 countries and a pillar of the Millenium Development Goals, a statement issued said.
